25 Years of Newark Alliance

Celebrating 25 years, the Newark Alliance highlighted its transformative role in Newark’s economic and social development, from major projects like the Prudential Center to local hiring initiatives. CEO Evan Weiss reaffirmed its mission with new goals to support Black-owned businesses, expand broadband, and combat homelessness, emphasizing, “We can achieve big things because of who we are and who Newark is.”

Groundbreaking "Don't Touch My Hair" Art Experience at Newark Arts Festival

Newark, NJ — October 14, 2024 — Filmmaker Ayana Morris’s Don't Touch My Hair exhibit launched at the Newark Arts Festival, celebrating Black hair’s cultural impact through immersive art and storytelling. Featuring powerful imagery, a salon setup, and community events, the installation will be on display at Harriet Tubman Square until November 15.
